Cape Town - Proteas legend Dale Steyn has joined the Melbourne Stars ahead of the 2019/20 edition of Australia's Big Bash League.
The franchise confirmed the news on its Twitter page on Tuesday.
Steyn, who returned home for this year's Cricket World Cup without playing a game thanks to a shoulder injury, recently retired from Test cricket but remain committed to white ball cricket for the Proteas.
He will join former Proteas team-mate AB de Villiers, who has signed for the Brisbane Heat, in Australia.
Chris Morris, meanwhile, will play for the Sydney Thunder.
Steyn will be available for the Stars' first six matches of the tournament, which gets underway on December 17.
